The website is where one of Sweetwater’s best features comes in, too – the Sweetwater Guitar Gallery. It’s easier to navigate, the images are clearer, and pages load much faster. The Sweetwater website is far superior to that of Guitar Center. Sweetwater, on the other hand, currently only have 1 physical store, which is attached to their Fort Wayne, Indiana headquarters. This does give shoppers the opportunity to try before they buy (provided Guitar Center actually has the item in stock). There are currently 294 Guitar Center stores across the country. Having physical locations across the United States is one of the few areas in which the Guitar Center bests Sweetwater. Today, Guitar Center is owned and operated by investment giants, Ares Management. Commercial pressure from suppliers meant he eventually ended up stocking more amplifiers and guitar products over time, and as the rock and roll frenzy took hold in the 60s and 70s, guitars accounted for the majority of sales, and so, the business was renamed to “The Guitar Center”. Mitchell got his start by selling Organs and organ accessories, doing business under the name “The Organ Center”. Guitar Center was founded in Hollywood, California in 1959, by Wayne Mitchell. I know IRs are big right now - IR being Impulse Response, which mimics the way cabinets react, but again, I haven't found any more than I like with Amplitube, but that might be because I know how to tweak Amplitube more than IRs. Maybe someone else could could give some more info on them. I know there are some highly recommend free amp sims out there, although the ones I've tried, I haven't liked as much as Amplitube. I tend to see people recommend other amp sims, though, and I haven't kept up with the latest paid stuff. I personally use Amplitube for my amp sim, and then Guitar Rig 5 for the effects. I definitely think the sound effects are really good (mostly because you can tweak it a lot), but the amp sims feel very outdated. How much would you be paying for it? I checked on Native Instruments website, and it was $199, which is definitely too much.
